7 Tricks To Modify Aggression Using Dog Behavior Modification

Your dog behavior modification education must install you and your family as the "alpha" position in the pack. That leaves your canine at the base of the pack hierarchy. Once the family determines authority over the canine, problems affiliated to authority may oftentimes be settled. This is why the socialization and dog behavior modification are extremely important.

7 Tricks for Dog Behavior Modification

1. Administer rewards. Remind yourself that your canine can have whatever he wishes if he is groomed to work for it. So, it is important to reward all satisfactory, voluntary dog behavior modification. Keep on your toes! Canines will shock you!

2. Supervise the food supply. In that food is such a esteemed commodity, it is important to make your canine realize you oversee this precious resource.

3. Conserve rubbing. Cuddling, and the compliance that goes with it, is a powerful reward for most dogs and as such should be conserved in the very way as food.

4. Conserve recognition. Praise can be another greatly valuable asset for which alpha dogs should be forced to work. Approving a canine regularly decreases the meaning of this otherwise much treasured recognition.

5. Exploit toys as rewards. The provision of toys is a liberty for which alpha dogs have to work.

6. Conserve games. Games are fun, and as such, should be conserved. You have to institute all activities and you establish when they are over.

7. Let your canine earn independence. Liberty is one of lifes liberties and with liberty rises the desire for social responsibility and admiration.

Remember that YOU ARE THE BOSS...YOU DETERMINE what happens.

Dog Behavior Modification

Dog behavior modification is often confused with obedience training. The difference being that behavior modification mostly deals with "why" dogs do the things they do. Obedience training just "teaches" the dog a command. Both things are important. However, today...we are talking about dog behavior modification, mostly separation anxiety. Separation anxiety is very upsetting to your dog. Dogs are very social creatures and don't like to be left alone. Therefore, when they are left alone, they tend to get either "bored" or they get destructive. Either way...it is not good for you, your home, or the dog.

Here are a few tips:
  • Exercise your dog - exercise is a great stress reliever for us...it is an excellent stress reliever for your dog too!
  • Learn the sign of distress - when your dog follows you around when you are getting ready for work, is whining, getting all the toys, heavy panting, shaking...these are signs.
  • Crate your dog - crate training when they are a puppy is a wonderful solution to separation anxiety. The crate provides a safety place where the dog can go to relax and calm down.
